Hello friends,
As we move into our 10th anniversary year, weāre not only looking back, but looking around. So much is happeningāin our city, our country, and around the globeāto uplift the voiceless. And we want to share it all with you.
šļø Whatās New in Chennai? Hope in Action.
āļøChennai Airport Leads with Love
This June, Chennai Airport became Indiaās first airport to launch a comprehensive stray dog management programāsterilization, vaccinations, and even a dedicated dog care center right on-site. Itās a reminder that even in the busiest, most structured spaces, compassion has a place.
āļø Debates that Matter: The Microchipping Question
The Madras High Court is currently reviewing a plea against microchipping stray and pet dogs. For many of us, this issue hits home. Itās not just about lawāitās about what it means to care for animals ethically.
šø Big Budget, Bigger Impact
The Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs. 40 crore toward improving the lives of animalsāexpanding Animal Birth Control (ABC) programs, veterinary hospitals, and even starting a project for the welfare of beach horses.
š„ Chennaiās New Pet Trauma Care & Shelters
Ten new veterinary hospitals. A trauma care center for pets. A pet crematorium. Localized shelters. The Greater Chennai Corporation is showing what humane urban planning really looks like. And weāre cheering them on every step of the way.
š®š³ Across India: Courage, Change & Community
From Karnatakaās elephant rescue project to a crackdown on illegal pigeon racing in North India, June saw brave action across the country.
And while we celebrate the good, we also hold the painful truths accountableālike PETAās call to shut down a cruel lab in Telangana. These stories are why we continue to do what we do.
š Around the World: One Voice for Animals
Across borders, people are standing up for animals:
In the U.S., a new law may strengthen animal cruelty enforcement.
In the EU, plans are in motion to eliminate cages and improve welfare for farmed animals.
In Africa, climate change and animal conservation are being linked in powerful new ways.
Thereās momentum building everywhereāand it inspires us to keep moving forward, too.
š COMING SOON: Our 10-Year Anniversary Book
This October, weāre thrilled to release a book that captures the soul of Animal SAYS:
āVoices for the Voiceless: A Decade of Animal SAYSā
This is more than a timeline. Itās a collection of stories, faces, heartbreaks, and triumphs.
š¬ Why This Matters Now More Than Ever
Animal welfare isnāt just about animalsāitās about the kind of people we choose to be.
In a world that moves fast, where the cries of the voiceless are often drowned out, it takes courage to pause. To kneel down on a roadside and feed a hungry pup. To speak up in a classroom. To rally at City Hall. To keep showing up, even when it feels like too little, too late.
But itās not too little. Itās never too late.
